What Laser equipment do you use?
We use the GentleMax ProⓇ Laser which is a straight laser machine. There are two types of laser hair removal techniques— Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Straight Laser systems. IPL treatments weaken the hair follicle but do not permanently destroy it. More sessions will be needed for a lasting result when using IPL and, any change in hormones can cause hair to regrow. With the GentleMax PRO straight laser, the growth center within the follicle is completely destroyed for lasting results in minimal sessions.
Is it safe on darker skin?
GentleMax Pro Laser is safe for darker skin types because it offers a 1064 nm wavelength. This particular wavelength is selectively absorbed by the deeper levels of the dermis—bypassing the skin’s surface and only targeting deeper melanin of the hair follicle making it a safe option for dark skin.
Do I need to shave before my appointment?
Yes. Shaving before a Laser treatment ensures that the laser light is delivered to the base of the follicle and isn’t trapped by the hair above the surface of the skin. In addition, if the hair is not shaven prior to treatment, the service may feel very uncomfortable and the hair can burn onto the skin.
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
Straight Laser techniques, like the one used at Lipstick Empire LaserSpa, ensure that the affected hair follicles are permanently disabled and unable to produce hair anymore. Changes in hormones like pregnancy can cause sporadic hair growth and may require a follow-up treatment to remove rouge hairs.

How many treatments will I need?
Because our hair goes through 4-6 week growth cycles, not all hairs are at a stage to effectively absorb the heat needed to destroy the follicle, which is why multiple treatments are required. We recommend 7-10 treatments depending on your hair texture, colour, and density. One of our laser technicians will be able to advise you on the number of treatments you may need.
