The Perfect Derma™ Peel — How It Works
Unlike standard peels, the Perfect Derma™ is applied in layers at our Edmonton clinic and worn home. After a minimum of 6 hours, you remove it yourself using the included aftercare kit.
The result is one of the most effective skin transformations available without surgery.
How Does a Chemical Peel Work?
We believe informed clients get better results. Here’s exactly what to expect from your chemical peel at Lipstick Empire.
Skin Consultation
Your Medical Aesthetician reviews your skin concerns, current routine, and health history to select the ideal peel type and strength.
Skin Preparation
The skin is cleansed and prepped. The Perfect Derma™ contains Phenol, which acts as a natural numbing agent — no separate numbing step required.
Peel Application
The chemical or enzyme solution is applied in controlled layers. Mild tingling is normal. Process typically takes 30–45 minutes.
Neutralization & Aftercare
The peel is neutralized and removed. Soothing serums are applied and a customized aftercare plan is provided — including a take-home kit for the Perfect Derma™.
Results & Follow-Up
Most clients notice immediate brightness. Full results develop over 2 weeks. We recommend 3 treatments for optimal, lasting improvement.

Why Edmonton Clients Choose Lipstick Empire for Chemical Peels
Not all chemical peel experiences are created equal. Here is what sets Lipstick Empire apart.
Medical-Grade Formulations
We don’t use generic peels. Every formulation we offer — from our enzyme peels to The Perfect Derma™ Peel — is medical-grade, selected for its clinical efficacy and safety profile. You are getting professional-level skin resurfacing, not a diluted version of what’s available at home.
Certified Medical Aestheticians
Every chemical peel at Lipstick Empire is performed by a certified medical aesthetician. We assess your skin thoroughly before recommending a peel, and your treatment is always tailored to your skin type, concerns, and tolerance. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach.
Customized to Your Skin
With four peel types available — from sensitive-skin-safe enzyme options to advanced TCA and The Perfect Derma™ Peel — we have an effective option for virtually every skin type and concern. Your aesthetician will match the right formulation to your skin, not the other way around.
Results-Focused Protocols
We recommend treatment series based on what actually works. Our three-session recommendation is grounded in clinical outcomes, and we track your skin’s progress at each visit to ensure you are getting the results you came for.

Chemical Peel Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Chemical Peel feel like?
Our peels are virtually painless. Most clients experience only mild tingling or a brief stinging sensation while the solution is on the skin — similar to the sensation of a light exfoliant. For the Perfect Derma™ Peel, a numbing step is applied before treatment for extra comfort.
Is there downtime after a chemical peel?
Standard peels at Lipstick Empire require no downtime — you can resume daily activities immediately. The Perfect Derma™ Peel is the exception: visible peeling occurs from approximately Day 3 through Day 7. We recommend planning this treatment when you have a low-key week ahead. Your aesthetician will prepare you fully at your consultation.
When will I see results from a chemical peel?
For most of our peels, improvements in brightness and skin tightness are visible immediately. As new skin cells regenerate over the following 2 weeks, the texture and tone continue to improve. We call our standard peels “lunchtime peels” — you can return to work and apply makeup right away. The Perfect Derma™ Peel shows dramatic results after visible peeling completes around Day 7.
What is the best chemical peel for acne scars?
For acne scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, we typically recommend a TCA peel or The Perfect Derma™ Peel. These medium-depth peels penetrate below the surface layer to stimulate collagen remodelling and visibly reduce discolouration. Mild scarring often responds well to a series of glycolic acid peels. Your medical aesthetician will recommend the most effective option for your specific skin at your consultation.
How often should I get a chemical peel?
We generally recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 2–3 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every 1–3 months for optimal long-term results. Your aesthetician will customize a treatment cadence based on your skin’s response and goals.
Are chemical peels safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — we offer gentle enzyme peels that are specifically formulated for sensitive, reactive, and even pregnant skin. During your consultation, your medical aesthetician will assess your skin’s tolerance and ensure your peel selection is both safe and effective for your skin type.
Are chemical peels safe to do in the summer?
Chemical peels can be performed year-round, but post-peel skin is more sensitive to UV exposure. During and after your peel treatment series, we strongly recommend SPF 30+ every day — regardless of whether you plan to be outdoors. Avoiding prolonged direct sun exposure in the immediate days following treatment is especially important. We will walk you through all pre- and post-care instructions at your consultation.
Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?
Yes, in many cases. Chemical peels pair well with other skin treatments like HydraFacial, Dermaplaning, or Dermalux LED therapy. They can also complement laser-based treatments like Photofacial or Microneedling when scheduled appropriately. Your aesthetician will advise on the best sequencing for your treatment plan to ensure safe, effective results without over-stressing the skin.
How does a chemical peel compare to a Photofacial for pigmentation?
Both treatments address pigmentation, but they work differently. A chemical peel accelerates surface-level cell turnover to shed pigment-laden cells and improve overall tone and texture — it works best for diffuse pigmentation, acne scarring, and surface congestion. A Photofacial uses targeted laser energy to break up discrete melanin deposits beneath the skin’s surface, making it more precise for defined dark spots, sun damage, and freckles. For many clients, combining a peel series with Photofacial at different stages delivers the most comprehensive results. We will recommend the best approach for your specific concerns at your consultation.
How do I prepare for a chemical peel?
To ensure the best results and minimize your risk of side effects, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines:
- Discontinue retinol and retinoid products 5 to 7 days before your session
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanner) for at least 2 weeks before treatment
- Avoid waxing or any other facial hair removal 1 week prior
- Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, SPF, or skincare products on the treatment area
- Inform your aesthetician of any recent medications, especially antibiotics or photosensitizing drugs
